Zippity Zoo-Dah!

I've been so busy lately that I've had little time to blog.  But that doesn't mean we haven't had lots going on around here!  Today I'm sharing some pictures from two spring trips to the North Carolina Zoo.  I went with my children and some friends over our Spring Break and then again with my first graders.

The kids were excited about the 4D dinosaur show and the lifelike creatures.

Let's see if anyone can find a fossil.

Drake got a shark's tooth!

The next group of pictures are from our first grade field trip.

Here are my students getting wet before the real showers came.
Our trip was cut short due to stormy weather, however, we saw a few animals and the dinosuars!

Here's another shower before the rain came!

Thankfully, when the downpour began, we were close to the aviary.  Even then, the children
crowded beneath the mist.

We passed the time by playing hopscotch,

 crowding into a crevice,

and playing another floor game.

The tail-end of our trip included this view of the zebras on our way out (pun intended). Our school-system called and said that due to storms, we had to head back to the school early.

Many of the kids fell asleep (or appeared to be asleep) on the ride home.

They're so quiet and still while they sleep!

I'll end with the pic of my class after we exited the 4D theatre.  Hope you enjoyed your field trip to Asheboro, North Carolina!

Mother's Day

I am blessed to spend this Mother's Day with my husband, three children and my mother-in-law.  This is my 8th Mother's Day without my mother.  I miss her very much and am sad that my children never got to know her.  I also am hurting for a few friends who will spend their first Mother's Day without their mom and for one who is mourning the loss of a child this day.  I am grateful for a Savior to whom we can run in times of unspeakable sorrow and great joy.  May the Lord bless you and keep you this Mother's Day and forevermore!
