Pre-K All The Way (To The End Of The Year)

This is me on my first day of school as a Pre-K teacher. I will be teaching til the end of the year while Mrs. Riley is on maternity leave. So far, it's been an adventure.

The boys like to build with blocks.

Gotta start them early on the computer you know.

The Home Living Center looks a lot like my house these days.

Playing with play-doh is fun. And I haven't seen a child eating any yet.

Ms. King (my assistant) pulls a loaded wagon.

A few Fridays ago, we had a Trike-A- Thon.

We raised money for sick children at St. Jude's Research Hospital.

I thought this job would be easy. It's more challenging than I anticipated.

Eighteen Preschoolers are quite active and needy.

But they are also precious and need to be prepared for Kindergarten next year. This is my third week on the job and school is out on June 10th. So until then I will do my best to instill in these children a love of learning. And then I will wait on the Lord to show me what He has in store for me next school year.

Catchin' Catfish

J.J. and some of his buddies took a boatload of kids catfishing Saturday night. Here's Corinna's catch.
Tyler holds up Noah's fish.

Here's Drake's big catch. He even reeled it in himself. It was a successful night on High Rock Lake.

Prom Night

Who went to the prom, you ask? Corinna and I went to Alston Brook's (my dad's nursing home) prom on Thursday night. She was anticipating the event all week.

Who is that masked man?

Doesn't he look sharp?

My dad and I smile while Corinna takes our picture.

After our food, it was time for some dancing.

I think the residents and family members enjoyed getting dressed up.
One of Alston Brook's favorite entertainers sings some "Love Me Tender" to Miss Mary. She is a diehard Elvis fan. She kept asking him to sing just one more. He sang about 5 of the King's hits.

Check out her moves.

Some twirling action with Pa Pa. On a side note, Miss Nellie in the background, takes her babies everywhere.....even to prom. She and Corinna have become friends over the years. Nellie used to think Corinna was going to take her babies but now she isn't threatened. Corinna usually asks Nellie how her "Paulina's" are doing.

Cuttin' the rug (or the hardwood)

another spin

My dad grabs a dance with the prom queen.

We had a blast at the Moonlight Masquerade! This is the first year since my dad's been a resident of Alston Brook that they've held a prom. Corinna's already asking if they'll have one next year. I hope so. And before I know it, she'll be dreaming about her own high school prom (sniff, sniff).

Six Pix

Soccer season began this past Saturday.
Corinna is playing this season for the first time. Both she and Drake will wear #6.

We hope that the Kickers and the X-treme will do well. Corinna's team won their first game and Drake's team tied. "Let's go number six, now let's go." (That was chanted in my best cheerleading voice followed by two solid claps)

Makin' The Most Of The Coast

The kids and I, along with my MIL, went to Oak Island for Spring break. We had a delighful time. The weather was fabulous.

I gave the kids their Easter baskets early so they could enjoy some treats throughout our stay. And we'd have less to bring back home.

I helped with the consumption a bit.

Each got a dvd in their basket so we had some movie nights.

I used my Resurrection Eggs to tell the Easter story.

There's my skimboarder.

The temperature was just right.

Drake met a friend named Chris from Pennsylvania. All the kids enjoyed playing with him throughout our stay. Drake got his address so we'll see if they become penpals (that is if penpals exist anymore). E-mail buds, perhaps?

Corinna poses in her new suit.

Drake and Chris play catch.

Don't they look thrilled to be heading out to the sunrise service?

It was at the Oak Island Cabana.

There's our reminder that the Son has risen. He is risen, indeed!

Corinna and Ma Ma go for a walk.

The frigid water temperature didn't keep them from jumping in. It was too cold for me.

The smile says it all.

We enjoyed our Spring Break at the beach. We're looking forward to returning to Oak Island the week after school is out and then again in early August.
