Summer Playground 2010

For the past 3 weeks, my children have attend the Summer Playground at Southwood. It was sponsored by the Davidson County Recreation Department. The program was also offered the first week in July but J.J. was off work and we did other things. The day camp was from 7:30-1:00 each Monday-Thursday.

This pic was taken last week on CSI day. Everyone came dressed in black. This week was water week and today the kids had a talent show.

Corinna's favorite counselor was Lauren who goes to our church. Also pictured is Lauralyn, one of Corinna's friends from church. The kids had a great time at the Summer Playground. It was good for them to have somewhere to go to interact with others. Ok, I admit that it was good for me too. I got to have some time to myself.
This is my 200th post. We're going to the beach tomorrow so check back next week for post 201. Til then......my toes will be in the sand.

One HOT Tournament!

This past Saturday, Drake and J.J. played in a 3v3 soccer tournament in Greensboro. There was a whole lot of sweatin' goin' on! J.J. played once again on Team Juice Plus. Drake's team was made up of some of the guys he'll being playing challenge soccer with this fall and next spring.

After a day in the sun, it was wonderful to beat the heat and return to our air-conditioned home. We were all pretty much worn out after a long day.....even those of us who didn't play!

VBS: The Race Is On!

Meadowview held VBS this week. The theme was The Race Is On.

We can all win the race if we trust in Jesus Christ!

We had fun at VBS!

Below, my class recites their Bible verse. All the classes did great at learning their verses. It is my hope that they will truly hide God's word in their hearts and that seeds were planted this week. May many of these children (including my own) come to know Christ as Savior!

Dancing Diva

Corinna has been taking dance classes every Thursday since mid-May.
A friend of mine, Meredith, and her sisters started CrossMovement dance ministry years ago.

Corinna took creative movement as a 3 year old and ballet at age 4.

Last summer, the ministry took a much needed break. Corinna was upset because she had been waiting to turn 5 so she could take tap.

So, when classes started back up this year, Corinna opted to take tap and jazz.

She looks forward to classes on Thursdays and usually comes home exhausted.

There are only a few more weeks of classes.

Each class (ages 3- adult) is polishing their routines for the upcoming NOW (night of worship, aka recital).

It's going to be held on Saturday, August 14th at 7:00 at the Civic Center.

It thrills my heart that Corinna can show her love for Jesus through participating in CrossMovement dance classes this summer. Make plans to attend the NOW. I guarantee that you'll be blessed!

"Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre! For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation." Psalm 149:3-4

We're Even!

J.J. turned 37 today! Now we're the same age.......well, at least we will be for the next 15 days.

Nope, there's nothing wrong about being married to a younger man. But, he certainly doesn't look his age. I do like that he's been sporting a goatee and a moustache for the past few years.

That way I don't get mistaken for his mother. Well, I guess I need to be honest here. Only a handful of people have had the audacity to think I'm his mother. Happy birthday to my young stag. May the LORD continue to grant you wisdom as the leader of our household. You are a godly husband and an extraordinary father to our children. I love you dearly!

Flashback Friday: Pre-K Field Day

I didn't get to attend Field Day at my childrens' school this year. But at South Lexington, where I was teaching Pre-K, Field Day was on the last day of school. It sure was hot, even early in the day.

Pre-K Graduation practice

They sang Louis Armstrong's "It's A Wonderful World." I do think of these kids often. I hope they're having a good summer and that they are looking forward to attending Kindergarten come August. I know I'll see some of them again, as i plan to be a substitute teacher again next school year.
