Beach Blast

We had a wondeful time at Oak Island last week. The kids and I went down with J.J.'s mom.

We were excited that the Elks Club was having a Fish Fry Friday on our first night there. What a warm welcome to one of our favorite places!

FYI: The kids you don't recognize were our next door neighbors for the week. Connor and Will, from Virginia.

They couldn't stop the tide from coming in!

Couldn't leave without a trip to The Leaky Tiki for some homemade ice cream and karoke. Our neighbors came too. It was packed out that night, complete with a youth group church bus.

Hayden hits the stage.

Corinna sings a little Taylor Swift.

We had a great time. Or toes will be back in the sand the last weekend of July through August 6th. I get to celebrate my birthday at the beach this year!

Summer Shenanigans

School was out last Friday, so our summer officially began. I was unable to attend the kids' end of school award ceremonies, but they each had successful years....getting recognized for academic achievements, good character and wonderful attendance. The boys finished the year without missing a day.

Last Saturday, a storm came up just as Corinna's last soccer game was about to start.

They played in the rain and thunder. The same weather pattern continued most of this week too.

What's summer without karaoke? Gotta practice for The Leaky Tiki. We'll be there soon enough.

We were declared U8 Co-Champs. The game was tied 3 all. It was the 4th quarter. One of our players fell onto a piece of jagged glass that was in the field. He needed 14 stitches. J.J.'s holding your medal, Hunter. Hope you're back on the field in the fall.
So, that's the start of our summer. We're leaving for the beach in the morning. Check back late next week for the scoop.

3v3 Tourney

Last Saturday, Drake played in a 3v3 soccer tournament at Central Davidson. Lexington had never hosted such a tournament before and it was very successful. 103 teams entered.

J.J. played on a team sponsored by Juice Plus.

His team ended up in second place in their age division. They played college aged kids so they did quite well.

Team Juice Plus is planning on continuing in the 3v3 tourney in Greensboro on July 24th.

Drake's team went 3-1 and ended up in 6th place.

J.J. is coaching challenge soccer in the fall and Drake will likely play with some of those guys next month.

I'll leave you with an "Xtreme"ly silly shot. Way to go Xtreme and Team Juice Plus!

Pirates Of The High C's

Hayden puts on his Pirate face in preparation for his school choir's muscial.

He had one of the lead roles, the stowaway.

The students did a fantastic job. The performance was dedicated to a choir member who broke his neck in a diving accident on May 23rd. J.P., who had been cast as the King of the High C's, is recovering at Brenner's Children's Hospital. Several students had to make role changes at the last minute and did so remarkably.
We pray that J.P will make a full recovery.
