VBS = Success

This week at Meadowview, many children were welcomed to Covenant Kingdom. At our Vacation Bible School, the children learned about God's covenant with man beginning with creation and ending with the new heavens and the new earth yet to come.

I was the Royal Leader for the 3 and 4 year olds.

Melissa (Jane) and Natalie (Princess Ann) were a dynamic duo as the skit team.

some of the children singing

"Mighty is Our God"

"He is the King of Kings"

Here are the children practicing Psalm 100. They learned it all!

I scream, you scream.....

We all scream for ice cream.

The children were surprised with an inflatable slide during our celebration time.

Farewell my Royal Subjects. It is my hope that the seeds that were planted at VBS this week will come to fruition.......that many boys and girls (particularly my own) will trust Jesus Christ as savior and indeed become children of the King.

Two For Tuesday

On this Two For Tuesday, I'm posting 2 pictures of our crowd playing games at the beach. It was good to spend the evenings doing something other than watching t.v.

Jenga was a hit.

And the favorite game of the week was Uno.

Oak Islanders

We just returned from another week at the beach house. Our neighbors, the Youngs, joined us. J.J. took 2 days off from work and really enjoyed going deep sea fishing.

It was Latte's first beach trip. She loved the water! Here are our 2 girls.

Drake runs back for another boogie board ride.

Corinna splashes around in a water hole.

Styrling and Drake have a crab in the bucket.

J.J. with the dolphin, aka mahi mahi. Side note: It's now cut up and in our freezer.

The fam on the Oak Island Pier.

We returned to one of our favorite spots. However, the karoke song selection and equipment was not up to par. They must have decided to hire a few college students and buy the stuff at Walmart....last summer the Karoke guy was a professional. We had fun regardless.

Drake sings a song from HSM2.

We watched the singers after eating our ice cream. There was a BIG crowd, and most of the singers were children, hence the shoddy equipment.

Hayden with his back-up singers.

Look at the brown beach babe.

Another passenger gave Hayden a hermit crab, which was released back into the ocean when we got home.

It was hard to condense our trip into one blog entry, so more pictures may show up in future posts. We are so thankful to be able to frequent Oak Island. Here's a picture of "The Six Pack" from the beach. Lord willing, we are returning for a few days in August, right before school starts back.

100th Post!

It's my 100th post! Yeah. I've have enjoyed learning to blog and will continue to record pictures and stories of our lives. This is a picture of the children (mine and 3 neighbors) and the staff from Summer Playground. It is a program offered through the Davidson County Recreation Department. I attended as a child and worked at the camps as a teenager. The camp, as we called it, was at Southwood. It went on for 4 weeks and cost 5 dollars per child per week. Today was the last day. My children enjoyed going and I enjoyed dropping them off!

Flashback Friday: The Leaky Tiki

Last summer, a new venue opened up at Oak Island, The Leaky Tiki. It is a homemade ice cream parlor with karoke outside on a big deck. We enjoyed several visits there during our beach trips. The atmosphere is very family friendly. Above, Hayden and Kay (J.J.'s mom) pose.

Corinna and Drake with their beach bods.

Hayden grabs the mic. He sang a lot of Elton John songs, the most popular being "Crocodile Rock."

On a separate trip with the cousins in August, we returned. Brady eats his ice cream.

Chase and Corinna run and dance to the music.

Hayden is singing again in the background. The guy who ran the karoke machine called him either Elvis or Elton. When we were at the beach in June, we headed to The Leaky Tiki on a Wednesday night, but it was closed. I told the kids the workers must be at church. We were going back the next night but a storm came. This afternoon, we are heading back to Oak Island. Needless to say, Hayden is ready to get back on stage and sing. This time I hope to get some video footage. So, check back in about a week for some more action from The Leaky Tiki!
