Our Biker Babe

Corinna has been asking J.J. to remove her training wheels for weeks. Well, tonight was the night. And I have to say, our biker babe did a great job. Soon it will be time for a bigger bicycle.
Ready.

Set.
Go!

First Grade Field Trip

On Wednesday, April, 29th, Drake's class took a field trip to nearby Dan Nicholas Park. Corinna and I tagged along.

" Drake is the coolest boy in the class," I heard one of his female classmates say. Perhaps this picture proves it.

Some of Drake's peers stop for a photo op.

Mrs. Barnes and the children are ready to look at the animal exhibits.

Farmer Drake and Corinna the cow.

Pony up, princess.

Drake and some friends get ready to ride.....and the carousel did go rather fast.

Everyone listens intently on how to find the best gemstones.

Let the digging begin. We did find some colorful and shiny stones.

The much anticipated lunch time finally arrived. All that walking made for some hungry children and adults.

All aboard!

Corinna made a new friend.

Drake boards the activity bus and returns to school.

So long, Dan Nicholas Park. Perhaps we'll return during the times listed on the sign. Maybe then the black bears will be up and at'em, and not asleep.

Beach Bums

Our family has been extremely blessed to have access to a beachfront home in Oak Island, North Carolina, up to six times per year. My mother-in-law, her brothers, and two family friends, purchased the home together back in the eighties.

Here's the name of the house.....cleverly named for the six original owners. My mother-in-law is depicted in the skirt, as she's the sole female owner.

This is the view of the Six Pack from East Beach Drive. My friend Lynette and I, along with Corinna and her twin daughters, Sophie and Kaitlyn, enjoyed a long weekend at the beach. The weather was beautiful, and we had a relaxing and enjoyable time together.

The girls are ready to hit the waves.

The water was quite cold but that didn't stop them!

A lot of time was spent in the sand, too.

On Saturday morning, we spotted this red fox trotting on the dunes. I took this shot from the deck. I've never seen a fox on the beach before, have you?

On Saturday night, we played a round of Jungle golf.

The little ladies were hitting the ball so much they needed to stop for a rest.

We're going for a stroll on the beach before departure on Monday.

Kaitlyn, Sophie, and Corinna strike a pose.

The Cullens girls stop for a picture.

This is debris that washed up on shore throughout the weekend, which I believe to be ashes from the wildfires in nearby Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Corinna took this picture of Lynette and I. We were instructed to look cool. Here is our feeble attempt.

The younger girls watched The Little Mermaid while the bigger girls cleaned up and packed the van. Hope the next houseguests have as much fun as we did.

Flashback Friday: Wiz of Oz Leading Ladies

Flashback to Christmas of 2007. Hayden had just debtued in his first LYT play, "The Wizard Of Oz," in mid-November. So Corinna was into the female characters. My dad gave her a dress up trunk with the play's leading ladies.

Here's Dorothy but where's Toto?

Corinna as Glenda with her magic wand in hand.

Beware of the Wicked Witch. She melted over and over.
I'm posting just after midnight because I'm going to Oak Island for a ladies beach weekend. Stay tuned for beach pics! Good-night!

Two For Tuesday

Here are 2 things I like about Tuesdays.......

*CBS (Community Bible Study) Leadership- For the past three years, between the months of September and May, I have met with a group of about 25 ladies for Bible Study, prayer, and fellowship. Each of these Tuesday mornings has blessed me richly. We usually finish up our time by eating out together. I will only enjoy a few more of such Tuesdays, as CBS will wrap up for the year in mid-May. I am not returning to CBS next year, as I will be attempting to return to some form of teaching. Yet, I will look back upon my Tuesdays with joy, and smile.

*Fire Team- For about 8 years, I have met with two other women the 3rd Tuesday evening of each month for intercessory prayer. We call our meetings "Fire Team." This also has been a blessing in my life, evidence that the prayers of a righteous man (or woman) are powerful and effective. We have seen God at work through the years, during good times and bad. It is my hope that God would make a way for us to continue to meet together for many years to come.

To Grandmother's House They Go

Just dropped the kiddos off at J.J.'s mom's place in High Point. J.J. and I are helping with an early morning youth event. The children always have a blast at Ma Ma's. Now, my honey and I are going to go grab some supper and come home and relax. We've gotta get up by 6am.

Flashback Friday: Pierced Ears

This was taken back in September after Corinna had her ears pierced. She's showing off one of her pink flower studs. My favorite part of this picture though, is how it highlights her freckles. You may not be able to see them well since the blog pics aren't so big. Click on the pic to enlarge it and you'll see what I mean. Nowadays, Corinna is into wearing earrings that dangle, which is great until one gets caught on her shirt.

The Crew At The Zoo

We decided to head to the North Carolina Zoo today since school was out. It drizzled on the way, but the rain held off and we had a great time. The overcast sky and mild temperature was perfect zoo weather.

Corinna, Clifford, Drake and Hayden stop for the camera.

Goofing around outside of the gift shop.

Clifford and Drake on a rock.

"What are you lookin' at?"

The lion and his lioness silently stare.

Pretty in pink (and orange).

The boys were standing atop a big rock, but I shot too close for you to tell.

What's hatching?

Roughin' up the rhino.

Close up of an elephant, but a bit blurry (sorry).

Checking out the helicopter.

"Hi", from Hayden.

a giraffe

a zebra

two monkeys.... No, that's Drake and Clifford eating lunch.

Corinna and Lauralyn are visited by some geese. A bit later, one of them ate Lauralyn's sandwich.
We had a great field trip to Asheboro. We only visited the Africa side today. We got a family membership, so next time, we will head for the North Americian side.
