From Pool To School

I say this every year, but our summer flew by at record speed. We enjoyed beach trips, camping expeditions, and many an afternoon at the pool.

But it was bound to come....the day the kids returned to school. It seems as if the school supply list has dramatically grown this year.

I spent a pretty penny getting all the necessary items.

And this didn't include all the stuff I had to buy to pack snacks and lunches, plus a few last minute things.

Drake and Corinna will be at Southwood in

2nd grade

and in 4th.

Hayden is transitioning to Central Middle School

for his 6th grade year. I'm expecting it to be a wonderful school year. I am pleased with the teachers my children have and trust that the Lord placed them exactly where they are. I have enjoyed a few days at home getting the house in order and look forward to subbing opportunities that are sure to come in the next few weeks.

Happy New School Year!

Boy Bash

This past Friday, Corinna went to my friend Beth's for a Girl Fest while I brought her oldest boys to our house for a Boy Bash. Our day consited of.... video games

basketball and bicycles

balloon blowing

eating lots of chicken nuggets

and corn dogs

meeting one of the new boys next door

beyblades

bouncing on the trampoline

or playing Last Man Standing

We completed the Boy Bash with a trip to Tinseltown. (we bought our snacks at Dollar Tree and snuck them in) The girls had fun eating at Olive Garden, shoe shopping, ice cream at Mayberry's, and watching The Black Stallion. Sometimes it's good to separate the boys and the girls. Perhaps next time Beth and I will reverse roles.

Beach Bliss

We spent last week at the beach. Some friends joined us. Before leaving, we thought that Tropical Storm/Hurricane Emily would cause rain, but it ended up being a nice week.

The sea turtle nest right by the house was well guarded. People camped out by it nightly

in anticipation of witnessing the hatching of the eggs. We kept a check on it each evening but they did not hatch during our stay.

Boogie boards and skim boards were put to good use.

Well, most of the time.

me and Steph

Syd really liked the beach!

The Everhart's stopped by on their way to the Fort Fisher Aquarium.

Corinna met the girl staying next door and hung out with her all week. It was a blessing considering there were 4 boys in the house.

Grace, who's from Texas, even spent the night at our house one night.

on-the-bed ballet

The hot spot on Oak Island for family entertainment is the jungle golf course. Several of the kids got holes in one.

Our trip to OKI wouldn't be complete without a trip to the....

Leaky Teaky. Noah sings for the crowd. Hayden and Stephanie sang as well.

Now our beach gear is packed away and the new school year begins next week.

However, I do hope to return to the Sixpack in the fall.

LOVE GOD. LOVE PEOPLE.

The Crossmovement Dance Ministry's night of worship was amazing. The theme for this year was...Love God. Love People.

Corinna's excited to be allowed to wear make up.

Many of my pictures turned out blurry but the whole picture of an evening that brought glory to God is clear in my mind.

Corinna took jazz, tap and ballet this summer and truly enjoyed herself.

all the dancers on the stage

Corinna was part of a group that recited the Lord's prayer. My clearest pictures were of her face on the big screen. Love that freckley face. Loved seeing my baby girl dance for the Lord!
