Fall Festival Fun

Meadowview's Fall Festival was today. We look forward to it every year. The weather looked questionable, but it only misted while we were there.

Giddy-up!

We arrived as lunch was being served due to an early morning play rehearsal.

Didn't win a cake in the cakewalk. :(

Nor did we win a gift basket. Maybe next year.

loading up for a hayride
And they're off!

Hayden prepares to slide.

Corinna poses in front of the princess bounce castle in her Cinderella shirt, nonetheless.

Drake with his Ma Ma. He isn't thrilled that he has to leave early to get to his soccer game. There was also face painting and games for the children. And the youth always play soccer in the big field. Drake joined in with them of course. Farewell Fall Festival .... until next year, that is.

Flashback Friday: Brady's Birth

My nephew Brady turned 3 this month. Here is a picture of me holding him shortly after his birth.

He's all stretched out.

His mom Melissa feeds him. And she really has to feed him nowadays. The children in our lives grow up so fast. I'm hoping to soon scan the pictures from when our children were born to share. What a blessing they are!
"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth.
Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them!" (Psalm 127:3-5a)

Where ARE The Wild Things?

Last night we took a little road trip to the drive-in in Albemarle to see "Where The Wild Things Are." We brought along a crock-pot of chili and all the fixins', bundled up, and watched the show. I must admit that I was not impressed with the movie, which was only loosely based on the book by Maurice Sendak. But, it was nice sitting outside to a nearly private screening. I think there were merely two other cars of people joining us. It was a bummer that the concession stand didn't have any coffee or hot chocolate. Here are a few pictures to chronicle our excursion:

So, where ARE the wild things?

Right here!

Hanging Rock State Park

Saturday afternoon we ventured to Hanging Rock State Park for a family photo shoot. My friend Beth met us at the Lower Cascade Falls. Here are just a few pictures we took along the way. You'll see the professional ones at a later date.

On our way back to Lexington, we stopped at this state-owned barn, ignoring the no trespassing signs. I wanted to take a few pictures. The barn was right beside two 4-H camps. The 4-H clover symbol was on the top left window (right in the pic) of the barn.

We hope to return to Hanging Rock State Park in the future. We had to get home for Drake's soccer game, so we didn't have extra time to explore the trails. They have campsites, so when we return we'll have to have our tent in tow. Perhaps we'll wait til spring.

Flashback Friday: Park Pics

These pictures were taken Memorial Day weekend at Dan Nicholas Park.

Hayden made it to the top.

Look closely and you can see Drake's blue gatorade mustache.

Corinna's got her eye on you!
