Camping at Jordan Lake

I am having to backtrack about a month to record some camping memories we made over Memorial Day weekend. We camped with a large group (around 10 families) at Jordan Lake. As always, we had a great time.

We had wonderful weather and the fellowship was a lot of fun. Really the only thing we were missing were a few boats to further enjoy the lake.

As usual, there was plenty to eat and many hours to enjoy together as families. The kids especially liked the swimming area while the adults tolerated the cold water.

There are several campgrounds on Jordan Lake and we chose Poplar Point. It's not on the top of our list for a return. Although the sites were shaded and spacious, the bathhouse was outdated and not well cleaned. We also had a long walk or bike ride to the swim beach, so we opted to drive.

However, a good time was still had by all,  nearly 40 in our group. As usual, we had our own camp church on Sunday morning.

Here are a few more pics to wrap up the holiday weekend:

This collage captures Drake and a few "big boys" having a blast on a big wheel. They took turns racing down the big hill. Drake claims he won!

Our family has a camping trip planned for the end of July and another group camp out scheduled for Labor Day weekend.

I also I intend to play blog catch-up since I'm on summer break. Check back soon!

School's Out!

I have lots to blog about but things have been busy and I just have not taken the time to post what's been happening. Now that school is out for the summer, I hope to catch up in the blogosphere.

Corinna had a great year in 4th grade. She was an excellent class leader and achieved A honor roll status the entire school year.

Drake enjoyed his first year of middle school and excelled in the classroom. He also made lots of new friends.

Hayden's middle school experience has come to an end. I can't believe he is a rising freshman in high school! He did well with his challenging class load and also found his niche in the school chorus and the drama club.

I also worked many days as a substitute this school year. I worked at 3 schools and had a few long-term assignments. I plan to continue subbing next year.

We are all looking forward to a fun-filled, relaxing summer. Hopefully soon I will blog about road tips taken, and our new dog, among other things. Maybe I will even finish the book I started back in October!
