Soccer Training 101

It's time for some soccer training.

Corinna signed up to play soccer this spring. J.J. is working to teach her the basics.

a little foot action

some dribbling

Corinna traps the ball for a nice pose. It will be interesting to see how working in practices and games for two soccer players will pan out in the months to come. But we've already become accustomed to shuffing the three kids in three different directions. And I suppose that's how it will be for the next 10-15 years!

Choir Notes

This fall, a children's choir was incorporated into our church's Wednesday night Children Desiring God program. The choir has been singing monthly during our morning worship service.

Last night, the group sang the prelude for our evening service.

They did a fantastic job. Watch the clip below.

Don't you agree?

School Stuff

Last week, Southwood had their honor roll assemblies. Drake made the A honor roll and was also awarded a good attendance certificate.

Hayden obtained A/B honor roll status and earned a certificate for good attendance.

Kindergarten does not hold honor roll assemblies as they are not yet graded with "letter grades." Corinna is doing well in school too so she proudly poses with her recent report card. Way to go, kiddos!

The Snowy Sleepover

We had more snow fall here Friday night. Our friends, Jon-David and Rachel were celebrating their anniversary so their children stayed the night at our house.

The snow added to the excitement of our slumber party.

This picture and the previous two were taken Saturday morning. To follow are a few from Friday night. Then more from Saturday.

Emilie, Jancy, and Corinna wanted to dress fancy. Then snow began around 7:30.

It came down in big flakes and before long the deck was covered.

Emilie catches a few snowflakes.

Wii Sports Resort entertained us all.

the guys

the gals

We finally put them to bed around 10:00.

The boys and Latte claimed the basement.

There was a lot of stirring before 6:00 am. J.J. wouldn't let them get up til 7:00 when he cooked a big breakfast.

The "Gap Girls" get ready to put on their snow garb.

Here they are again.

what a fun bunch

the girls again, Latte included

and the young gentlemen

starting the sledding lane

Of course, J.J. got out the 4-wheeler, which always makes me nervous although he is careful. (Yes, I did call and get parental consent for the children who aren't ours)

snowball fight

I think the big boys won.

I drank lots of coffee but still went to bed quite early Saturday night. The majority of the snow melted by lunch time. It was a quick snow that did cancel Drake's basketball game Saturday but didn't put a damper on our other plans. Perhaps this was our final snowfall of the season. We'll see.... because the forecasters say we might see flurries around here tomorrow!

Flashback Friday: Warm Regards

Take a virtual field trip with me on this cold, wet, February day. We're going to the beach. Here's the view from the top balcony of "The Six Pack", the house we frequent on Oak Island. Don't get me wrong, I loved the snow last weekend. I'm just thinking warm thoughts today. Won't you join me?

Ahh, the shells, the sand, the surf, the sun! I had a great time. Did you? Now it's back to reality. I think I'll go snuggle up with a book and a cup of coffee. I've got some movies for later. I doesn't look like I'll be getting out today. And I'm glad I don't have to. Warm regards!
