Driving And Diving In

We recently went to the drive-in in Albemarle to see Cars 2 on it's opening night.

There was quite a crowd. My camera battery died so I'd didn't get pictures of just our group, but it was a wonderful night of family fun. I won't mention those in our family who fell asleep before the end of the movie.

We've been spending many an afternoon at the pool.

The water has been refreshing.

Splish splash, NEWS FLASH: We're leaving for the beach tomorrow. Enjoy your Independence Week...we will!

Summer Shenanigans

School was out last Friday, so our summer officially began. I was unable to attend the kids' end of school award ceremonies, but they each had successful years....getting recognized for academic achievements, good character and wonderful attendance. The boys finished the year without missing a day.

Last Saturday, a storm came up just as Corinna's last soccer game was about to start.

They played in the rain and thunder. The same weather pattern continued most of this week too.

What's summer without karaoke? Gotta practice for The Leaky Tiki. We'll be there soon enough.

We were declared U8 Co-Champs. The game was tied 3 all. It was the 4th quarter. One of our players fell onto a piece of jagged glass that was in the field. He needed 14 stitches. J.J.'s holding your medal, Hunter. Hope you're back on the field in the fall.
So, that's the start of our summer. We're leaving for the beach in the morning. Check back late next week for the scoop.

Pool Pics

We've spent many afternoons this summer at the pool. It has been a great escape from screen time, and has given the children opportunities to exercise and to interact with longtime friends and to make new ones. Whether it be simply swimming, going off of the diving board, playing ping-pong or volleyball, or just hanging out, many memories have been made at the Lexington Swim Club. And I've enjoyed talking with other moms, soaking in the sun, and reading books. Here are some random pics taken over the past few months.

We have a few more weeks before school starts on the 25th. Suffice it to say that we'll be returning to the pool as much as possible.
