This past weekend, our family returned to one of our favorite camping spots, Hungry Mother State Park. Here we are on the road:
We camped with several other families, most of whom attend our church. Two of the regular families who'd reserved spots were unable to come, but we had several newcomers this trip. Check out our Loop B Camping Compound:
This was our 4th consecutive Labor Day weekend at Hungry Mother, our 5th visit since we went the first time in July of 2011. The weather was fantastic, only raining on the drive there and and once we got home.
As always, the food and fellowship was excellent. It was wonderful hanging out with all the adults and children. Java had more dog walkers than any other dog in the world, I'd bet.
It was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of life for a few days and experience the great outdoors. Some of the activities we enjoyed were hiking, biking, canoeing, paddle boating, swimming, and playing in the creek.
A bonus was that it actually got cool in the evenings, so having a fire was great for the ambience as well as for the roasting of s'mores.
It was a wonderful weekend spent with special friends. I am happy that all these children will have childhood camping memories.
Of course I had to stop on the way out for a pic in the big frame. I sure hope we are able to return next year!
