Spring-n-Things

I'm glad it's Spring.

I'm enjoying the warmer weather

and signs of new life.

We've been working in two soccer games each Saturday. Corinna's #13 this season.

I like this pic with the church in the background.

The Strikers won their game this past weekend.

Corinna scored 2 goals.

Nice looking coach!

Drake's team is having a successful season. So far they are 4-1. (BTW, the mohawk is gone as of tonight)

They are playing such good team ball.

My friend Jan celebrated her 40th birthday on Saturday. Her husband Rob invited some girlfriends over for a surprise party in which he cooked us all dinner.

This is her sweet son Ethan. They adopted him from China and brought him home in late January.

Friday night, we went to the drive-in for some family fun.

We saw Rango, which was so-so.

I had to say goodbye to the Kindergartners on Friday. Here I am with the boys

and the girls. I enjoyed teaching them for 8 wonderful weeks. Tomorrow, I will return to teaching 2nd grade for a brand new mom who gave birth to a little girl last night. I will finish out the school year. It looks like I will be pursing a full-time position for next school year. I hope my various maternity leave jobs will work to my advantage in the candidate pool.

The Cat in the Hat and Other Things not Related to That

This past Wednesday was Read Across America Day and the late Dr. Seuss's birthday. Check out our mystery reader.

The lady in the suit taught Kindergarten when I started teaching at South Lexington back in 1994. She then became an assistant principal and was instrumental in me returning to the school system for subbing jobs last school year. In fact, she set up 2 of the 3 maternity leave jobs for me this school year. After a 30+ career in education, Mrs. Mason retired in December. It was such a joy to have her come read to our K and Pre-K students!

We made our own hats and wore them to lunch.

We painted hats and added the red and white stripes to make addition problems.

Here are the Kindergartners I've had the pleasure of teaching for the past 6 weeks. I have two more weeks to go! (I sure will miss them!)

You can't see which Dr. Seuss book was the class favorite, but it was Green Eggs and Ham.

The class also had another surprise visitor this past week.....their teacher, Mrs. Moore.

They were excited to show her some work they've been doing in her absence.

The children were overjoyed to meet her newborn daughter, Ava.

I know the next two weeks will fly by. Next (sometime in late March or early April), I will return to CEES to finish out the year in second grade.

I've been a slack blogger lately, but here are a few pics from LAST weekend. We were thankful to hang out with the Hunt's after Drake's soccer game.

Grace, Cana and Corinna

Isaac, Drake and Hayden...acting like boys, of course

Here are some flowers my darling husband bought for me prior to a double-date with the Haut's last weekend. They are still looking quite lovely on our kitchen table even today.

Corinna's soccer games start next Saturday so stay tuned. We don't have her schedule yet, but we're hoping that most weeks we won't have to split up the family to attend games. Go United Blue and Southwood Strikers!
