DC Diary: Monuments and Memorials

Over the fourth of July week we visited Washington, DC.  We stayed with JJ's aunt and uncle who live closeby in McLean, Virginia.  Although we were without power for most of the week, we had a good time visiting our nation's capital.

The FDR memorial was one of our favorites.

The MLK Memorial .....

I'm guessing it's design symbolizes how Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. worked to bridge the gap between black and white Americans.

Korean War Memorial

the Lincoln Memorial...

the Jefferson Memorial...

the Washington Monument...

Viet Nam Memorial Wall
WWII Memorial

I'll leave you with the above quote.  Part 2 of our Washington trip will be posted later in the week.
