Camping Out

We set up our tent at Morrow Mountain State Park in Albemarle Friday night. J.J. stayed home to enjoy the last day of turkey hunting. My friend Stephanie and I went with six kids and two dogs. Can you spot the deer to the left of our tent?

Corinna is looking sleepy. She lasted until 11:00.

Drake prepares to roast marshmallows.

Corinna had told me that one of her classmates was going camping too. I tried to tell her that it was highly unlikely that we were camping at the same place. Well, what a surprise when Terran's tent was pitched just a few sites over from ours!

Corinna wanted Terran's sister Olivia in a photo because she is famous. She was Van's weather kid on our local news station a while back.

Here's a shot of me without morning coffee.

Away they go!

Hayden crosses the creek.

The boys found some tadpoles. We also saw a small snake and many frogs.

There were literally hundreds of fallen trees throughout the park. The park must remain a natural habitat so trees cannot be moved unless they block the roadways.

The kids used apples to get the deer close.

We could hear the deer near our tent through the night.

We took a hike to the ampitheatre. Hayden led the younger kids in a scene from The Princess and the Frog.

Hayden holds the Young's dog, Sookie, right before we packed up.

And Latte was happy to see Drake when we returned home. We have two more camping trips scheduled this month. So stay tuned for our future camping adventures. Next time, J.J. and Latte will be joining us!
