We recently went to the drive-in in Albemarle to see Cars 2 on it's opening night.

Up Deep Creek Without A Paddle
I'm finally getting around to blogging about our latest camping excursion in Bryson City. It was a wild and wet adventure!
Several people we know had visited this campground and recommended it. We were able to rent the tubes for a nominal fee.
Here they go on the first trip down Deep Creek. The water was quite frigid.
We fit the bikes in the truck this trip.
The kids spent some time at the playground area.
more tube time..
The crew headed to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park for a longer ride. The creek led them down to our campground.
If the furniture industry doesn't improve, could this be an option?
I guess it's just seasonal work!

School's Out!
There's no better way to celebrate the end of school than a trip to the lake. Sunday afternoon, we hung out with my friend Lynette and her family.
It was a wonderful afternoon to tube!
I said farewell to my second graders last Friday. Here's most of them.
Corinna finished first grade.
Drake completed third.
Hayden graduated from fifth grade. We have a rising middle schooler! each of the kids had successful years and received multiple honors during their award presentations. We've spent many hours at the pool this week. We've done some cleaning. I finished my job application and I'll be playing the waiting game most of the summer I suppose. We're looking forward to a camping trip this weekend and to the rest of the fun-filled summer. And I'm NOT counting down the days til school starts back...yet!

Oldies But Goodies
Last week, some school choirs we're singing songs that took me back in time. Southwood's choir presented the program "On the Radio". Hayden played the part of a DJ.
Here are a few clips to get your toes a tappin. Do either of the songs take you back? The first two are the same. I didn't think the video uploaded the first time. Listen to it twice if you wish and think of Kevin Bacon.
The show featured radio hits from the 1920's-1980's. (The 80's tunes were the ones that took me back in time, mind you.)
The students did an amazing job.
Hayden and Dexter
I also had flashbacks as the Lexington Senior High School chorus sang for our elementary students. The girl in the white skirt was in the last 1st grade class I taught before giving birth to Hayden. She'll attend Chapel Hill next year.
